Citation Authority
Citation authority describes how much weight an AI engine or search system places on a given third-party source when using it to corroborate facts about a business. Sources an AI system cites frequently and consistently across many queries are generally treated as higher-authority than sources it rarely references.
Why it matters for hotels
In hospitality, sources like Booking.com, TripAdvisor, and Google Business Profile are commonly cited as authoritative by AI engines. A hotel whose own site conflicts with what these higher-authority sources say is fighting an uphill battle for an AI's trust, regardless of which version is actually correct.
